BAILEY RESIDENCE

BLACK BUTTE RANCH, OR

A much beloved, multigenerational family summer getaway, the Bailey Residence sits between Black Butte and Phalarope Lake, within the scenic community of Black Butte Ranch. Originally built in the 1960’s, we paid respect to its original woodworking and dramatically pitched roof forms while drawing inspiration from the rugged high desert outside. We opened the first floor plan to emphasize its spatial volume and redirect views outwards, adding a few select picture windows where needed.

We established a color and material palette based on hues and textures found in the high desert; foliage shifts based on elevation here, and so does the palette by floor. Attention to craft, pragmatic detailing, and carefully curated furniture and artwork allows for a laidback, lived-in interior that feels half cabin, half farmhouse, yet with the intentionality for change, allowing this home to be cherished by the family for years (or generations) to come.
